What is DoxyPEP?

Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis

  • An effective medication strategy used to potentially prevent Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis after exposure.
  • For optimal effectiveness, DoxyPEP should be started within 72 hours (3 days) of potential exposure. The sooner you take it (suggested within 24 hours), the better the chance it has of preventing infection.

DoxyPEP is most commonly recommended for people who are at higher risk of contracting these STIs, such as:

  • Individuals who have had unprotected sex with a new partner or someone whose sexual history is unknown.
  • Men who have sex with men (MSM) who are at increased risk for these infections.
  • People who have been victims of sexual assault
