Dr. Kenneth Abriola

MD, MPH

 

Dr. Kenneth Abriola, M.D. is a board-certified infectious disease specialist with over 20 years of experience. He is a native of Connecticut and grew up in Trumbull. He graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science degree with honors, and then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Connecticut Health Center.

 

After completing his residency in internal medicine at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and the University of Connecticut Health Center, Dr. Abriola went on to complete specialty training in infectious diseases at the Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. While at Tulane, he also earned a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine degree.

 

Dr. Abriola returned to Hartford in 1993 and began working in the internal medicine department at the University Connecticut Health Center – Burgdorf Clinic. In 1996, he joined the infectious disease division at Hartford Hospital, where he worked in their HIV program for eight years. In 2004, he founded his own practice, Connecticut Health Care Group, LLC. In September 2023, Dr. Abriola became the Medical Director of Circle Care Center’s new location in Glastonbury, CT.

 

Dr. Abriola has a long-standing interest in international health, and he has traveled to Haiti several times as a medical volunteer and faculty preceptor. He has also conducted international training sessions with the Center for Community Health Studies at the University of Connecticut Health Center.

 

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Abriola is also actively involved in the community. He has served as the volunteer Medical Director of the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective since 1993.  He is a former member of the Greater Hartford HIV/AIDS Ryan White Planning Council.
